Dr. McPhee and Dr. Selmi
Dr. McPhee and Dr. Selmi form an association of independent practitioners. We share support staff, office space, and follow many of the same procedures, but we maintain independent records and case files. We have separate financial arrangements and service agreements with litigants and clients, and for some services we follow different fee schedules. In most cases we receive individual appointments from the court, but at times we have been appointed to work as a team. Because we maintain independent practices, we can refer cases to one another with our restriction.
Training
We also provide training for advanced students and interns, who may participate in cases, conduct home studies, or provide other services under out supervision. Such student involvement occurs only with your thoroughly informed advance consent.
Limitations
We are happy to talk with you about scheduling, fees, and similar matters. For ethical reasons, we cannot discuss the details of your case with you until we have received a court appointment, you have signed a detailed service agreement, and your retainer has been paid. Even then we might be unable to talk to you about your case unless the other party is present. We will be glad to explain these restrictions to you and the reasons for them in detail, and do whatever we can to help you with the process.
Documents and Communication
Please do not send documents without first discussing this with staff. With the exception of forms we ask you to complete, documents are to be sent through your attorney. If you are not represented by an attorney, you must provide evidence that any documents you send to us have also been given to the other party. With advance approval, documents can be sent by mail, fax, or courier. For security reasons, Dr. McPhee and Dr. Selmi never accept E-mail communication from litigants or clients. You may communicate with our staff by E-mail, but only to schedule appointments.
