Separation and divorce are always painful and sometimes devastating emotionally for family members, especially children. The court may decide to require family members to have counseling by a specially-appointed provider with experience in Family Court matters.
Frequently, the therapeutic intervention is for reunification therapy. Because during a divorce children can for various reasons become estranged or distant from one or the other parent, psychotherapy may be needed to restore or heal damaged relationships. We work with parents and children to help re-establish those bonds and provide tools and methods for strengthening them.
The Therapeutic Interventionist may also be appointed to provide co-parenting counseling or other psychological services to assist the family.
Because this counseling is not confidential and not designed to treat diagnosed mental illnesses, it is not covered by medical insurance.
